The Village Voice has their 'BEST OF NYC' but this is my version!  Check it out below and leave me your thoughts! 

BEST CUP OF JOE:  NESPRESSO - get a window seat on Madison Ave. and people watch while you sip on a $7 latte.

BEST CHEAP NOODLE:  XI'AN FAMOUS NOODLES - small hidden treasure with no seating under the bridge on E. Broadway in Chinatown

BEST RAMEN:  TABATA NOODLE - no frills just delicous ramen for $10

BEST THAI LUNCH SPECIAL:  V{IV} - beautifully decorated in Hell's Kitchen, treat a friend to a St{art}er and F{eat}ure for $7!  $3 beer and $5 wine.

BEST VEGETARIAN:  CANDLE CAFE - try the tuscan seitan sandwich, savory and filling

BEST BOOZEY BRUNCH:  PARADOU - unlimited champagne brunch and entree for $30 on Little W. 12th St.  

BEST BISCUITS:  RED LOBSTER - go to the bar at the RL on 42nd St. and order a half dozen cheddar bay biscuits for $3! 

BEST DRUNK FOOD:  EMPANADA MAMA - $3 empanadas but you'll have to wait for a seat at 4am

BEST COOKIE:  CHOCONUT CHIP - Schmackary's finally got gay guys eating cookies again

BEST HAPPY ENDING:  SERENDIPITY - the frozen hot chocolate is big enough for two and never disappoints!

BEST BYOB:  HILLSTONE - with this ambiance, you would never think you can bring your own bottle and they'll even chill it with a smile at no cost


BEST $1 SLICE:  99 CENT FRESH PIZZA - 41st St/9th Ave on the NW side of the street

BEST EQUINOX:  76TH ST/AMSTERDAM - beautiful mixed crowd in a gorgeous modern facility

BEST NYHRC:  23RD ST/6TH AVE - huge workout floor with a young crowd and friendly staff

BEST BODY:  MARIO GODIVA GREEN - he doesn't just teach fitness but he lives and breaths it and the proof is in the pudding!

BEST INSTRUCTOR:  DARRYL GAINES - if you've never taken his Transcend Cycle class at Equinox, you must try it for an 'out of the saddle' experience!  He brings drama, energy, and 'the MUSIC is not an accident!

BEST SKATING RINK:  BRYANT PARK - free admission, just pay for skate rental!

BEST LAP POOL:  EQUINOX - 63rd St/Lex, rarely busy and has a great whirlpool and sitting pool to relax those muscles

BEST BIKE PATH:  WEST SIDE HIGHWAY - scenic view with serious riders

BEST LOCAL POLITICIAN:  JOHN LIU - he's Asian-American, doesn't keep his mouth shut and has scandalous fundraising practices - scandal!

BEST LOCAL NEWS CORRESPONDENT:  TOM LLAMAS - forget the fact that he's an Emmy award winning journalist, he's the most dramatic correspondent in NYC - check him out on NBC

BEST SUBWAY LINE:  N, R, Q trains - always a seat and good looking riders

BEST PARK:  MADISON SQUARE PARK - perfectly manicured often featuring exhibits and a panoramic view of the best architecture in the city

BEST BARTENDERS IN HK:  INDUSTRY - strong drinks at $8 with no attitude

BEST HOTEL BAR:  INK48 - enclosed rooftop bar with the best views of the city

BEST PERFORMER AFTER DARK:  SHEQUIDA - see the legend do her thing on Thursdays at HARDWARE BAR, the newest hot spot in Hell's Kitchen!

BEST GAY HAPPY HOUR:  BOXERS - 2 for 1 drinks until 9PM with a lively laid back crowd

BEST SPEAKEASY:  LITTLE BRANCH - intricate specialty cocktails are all over $15 but the place has 'old world' charm with great looking servers in suspenders!

BEST BRUNCH DJ:  JIMMY PRADA - head to Intermezzo in Chelsea to see him spin an electro-brunch, all the hottest beats and booze

BEST DEPARTMENT STORE:  BARNEY'S - easy to find the freshest fashions without a huge crowd trampling over your Louboutins

BEST CHOP SHOP:  KAKABOKA - ask for Mr. Han...he's usually rocking Rick Owens and own's the salon with his wife.  They keep the place running like a machine with a staff that's always on point.  Located in K-town, a cut will cost you $60.

BEST GROCERY STORE:  TRADER JOE'S on 21st/6th Ave - lines don't get too long and the place is always clean with a friendly hipster staff

BEST CONSIGNMENT STORE:  TOKIO 7 - luxury clothing/accessories at affordable prices in the E Village with a fashion forward staff

BEST PEDICURE:  MEN'S WELLNESS SPA - ask for David and a cranberry juice

BEST FLORIST:  BLOOM - beautiful arrangements with exceptional service and quality

BEST BOOK STORE:  RIZZOLI - multiple floors with tons of variety and elegance

BEST SHOE SHINE:  THE LEATHER SPA - treat yourself and your shoes to a $7 shoe shine at The Plaza on 59th/5th
